Tal and Josh Weinberger

Tal and Josh Weinberger have been active and involved members in the Caskey Torah Academy community for close to twenty years, as parents, volunteers and lay leaders. Their three oldest daughters, Tzipora (currently in Stern College), Rena (currently at MMY in Israel), and Bracha (an 11th grader at Kosloff Torah Academy) have already graduated from CTA.  Yisrael (8th), Eli (5th) and Leah (2nd) are current enthusiastic CTA students!

Tal is currently Director of Adult Outpatient Services and Clinical Assistant Professor, Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in the Department of Psychiatry, where she maintains and supervises a general adult outpatient practice as well as a specialty practice in women’s mental health. Prior to joining the faculty at Jefferson, Tal had a private practice in Bala Cynwyd, with Bala Child & Family Associates.  Tal earned her BS cum laude from Yale University, and received her MD, as well as completing her psychiatric residency, at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed a fellowship in cognitive behavioral therapy at the Center for Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her professional practice, Tal has worked extensively in the community on a volunteer basis with community leaders, rabbis and other community members to address the mental health needs of our community.  Tal has served as a CTA volunteer and lay leader for many years, serving on the Head of School committee and as current co-chair of the Education Committee. She previously co-chaired the Social-Emotional Subcommittee.  Tal has also regularly volunteered for a number of other community organizations and projects, including serving on the KTA Education Committee for many years, as well as being a founding and current co-coordinator of Midreshet Yom Rishon at Lower Merion Synagogue and speaker for Tea & Torah.

Josh is a Member of Cozen O’Connor in its Tax Department. Prior to Cozen, Josh was a partner at WolfBlock LLP. Josh earned his BA magna cum laude from Yeshiva University and subsequently learned in its Kollel. Josh then attended law school at the University of Pennsylvania. Josh received semicha from Rabbi Dov Brisman, Av-Beis Din of the Philadelphia Beis Din and rabbi of the Young Israel of Elkins Park.  Josh has served in numerous leadership roles for CTA over the years, including as an officer of the Board of Directors, and as a member of the Executive, Education and Head of School Committee, having chaired the latter two. He has also been involved with and served on the boards of the Young Israel of the Main Line, KTA, the eruv, and the mikvah.  Josh has provided pro bono legal services to many of the community’s organizations, and also is on the Board of Managers of the Jewish Scholarship LLCs, which implement the EITC program. He taught night seder at the Mesivta of Greater Philadelphia during its first year, and gives shiurim in a number of venues throughout the community.

Tal and Josh have greatly appreciated the role that CTA plays in the community and for their family. They have appreciated the Limudei Kodesh and general studies education that their children have received at CTA, with warm, engaging and talented teachers throughout the school. They feel privileged to be a part of CTA’s continued growth.
